From Level 1 to Level 6: The STG Learning Journey

Your Path Through the Levels, Step by Step

There’s a moment in every dancer’s path where it just clicks. You don’t feel like you’re copying anymore. You feel like you’re part of something, something that moves with you.

At Salsa te Gusta, we’ve built a learning journey that’s designed not just to teach you steps, but to guide you into confidence. From your very first salsa class to advanced partner work and musicality, our six core levels are structured to help you grow, consistently, joyfully, and with community.

And it’s not just about becoming a better dancer. It’s about discovering what you’re capable of.

“It felt so good to finally feel in sync with the group. I was dancing, for real. Not just surviving class.” — Anna, Level 3 student

🌱 Level 1: Starting From Zero

No experience? No problem. You’ll learn the fundamentals of Cuban-style salsa: basic steps, timing, body posture, and how to move with a partner. We also introduce Rueda de Casino, a fun, circle-style group format that gets everyone involved.

Everyone feels awkward at first. That’s part of the process. And at STG, we make sure you’re never left behind.

🎯 Level 2: Finding Your Flow

With the basics in place, Level 2 helps you build transitions, gain confidence with your timing, and start to feel the flow of movement, not just the steps. You’ll start switching partners more often, getting used to reading different leads and follows.

“In Level 2, I realized I didn’t have to overthink every move. It finally felt like dancing.” — Malou

🔁 Level 3: Real Challenges, Real Progress

Here, the challenge increases, and so does your progress. You’ll work with more complex turn patterns, refine your timing, and gain more control in your body. This is where many students feel their first big breakthrough.

“Level 3 was when I caught myself laughing through a tricky combo instead of freezing. That felt like growth.” — Yoran

🎵 Level 4: Dancing with Intention

Now the learning shifts. You explore solo movement, partner musicality, and expressive detail. You’ll get more into choreography and start feeling music in a new way, not just hearing it, but responding with your body.

“It was the first time I felt like the music and I were in conversation.” — Hyke

🔥 Level 5: Refining with Depth

At this level, the combinations become more technical and the partnering more subtle. You’ve developed vocabulary, now it’s about flow, clarity, and confidence under pressure. You’ll also start leading or following with intention and responsiveness.

Level 6: Precision and Presence

This is where everything sharpens. Speed, technique, detail, it’s all there. But it’s not about perfection. It’s about presence. In Level 6, you’re dancing with full clarity, not because you’ve memorized it, but because it lives in you now.

“Looking back, every awkward clap and missed step got me here.” — Roos

🌱 And Then… What’s Next?

Level 6 isn’t the finish line. It’s the foundation for something more.

Many students reach this point and realize they want to give back. To share what they’ve learned. To inspire others. That’s where our Pre-Teacher Training begins, an opportunity to deepen your dance knowledge, and explore how to lead others through the joy you’ve experienced.

We’ll dive into that in future blogs. But for now, just know, if that spark is there, you’re not alone.

💬 Every Journey Looks Different

Whether you’re at Level 1 or 6, every dancer moves at their own pace. At STG, we’re not here to rush you, we’re here to support you. With laughter, structure, care, and community.

Wherever you are in the journey, you’re already on the path.
